Driver School Record Verification

Driver iQ offers graduate records from leading driver schools to carriers hiring the best-qualified candidates. As a Driver iQ client, you simply order the Previous Record of Employment, and we will automatically search for your candidate in our nearly 60,000 graduate records.

Benefits for driver schools:
1) Administrators save time with fewer education verification requests.
2) Earn credits through storing records with Driver iQ. These credits can then be used to order background checks for new students.
3) Schools are able to see which carriers are screening their graduates and are therefore interested in hiring them.

If you are a driver school and you are interested in storing your graduate records with Driver iQ, please contact Amy Bricken at 631-862-9300 ext. 694 or email abricken@driveriq.com.

Commercial Driver License Information System

The CDLIS database is monitored and updated by American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). CDLIS consists of a Central Site and nodes at the Motor Vehicle Agencies (MVAs) of the 51 jurisdictions. As of February 25 2013, CDLIS had 14.6 million records, growing at an average rate of nearly 40,000 new records per month. The Central Site houses identification data about each commercial driver registered in the jurisdictions, such as:

• Name
• Date of Birth
• Social Security Number
• State Driver License Number
• AKA Information
• Current “State of Record” (SOR)

This information constitutes a driver’s unique CDLIS Master Pointer Record (MPR). Each MVA houses detailed information about each driver for which it is the SOR. This detailed information, called the driver history, includes identification information, license information, and a history of convictions and withdrawals. When a jurisdiction MVA queries CDLIS to obtain information about an applicant prior to issuing a CDL, the CDLIS Central Site compares data provided by the State Of Inquiry (SOI) against all MPRs in CDLIS. If one or more matches are returned, then the CDLIS Central Site “points” the SOI to the SOR (State of Record). The SOR can then provide the detailed information about the driver’s commercial driving history.

Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

A motor vehicle record, or MVR, is a report which may include driver’s license information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on an individual’s driving record.

Driver iQ currently offers MVR reports in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Canada.*

Manual Employment Verifications

Carriers spend a lot of money, and hire a lot of people, to confirm past employment for their entry-level drivers who are not in any database.

Driver iQ can do manual verifications through our Employment Verification Process. We have a 95% close rate on our verifications because our Verification Specialists get paid for completions, not attempts. Driver iQ assumes the veracity of the data we supply to carriers. We document and provide DOT-compliant records of attempts, company, and other information received for your driver files.

Q. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS INSPECTION?

A. Your state requires an auto photo inspection for the protection of you and of your insurance company. The inspection is designed to document the existence of the vehicle, its physical condition and existing options and accessories. The ultimate goal of vehicle pre-insurance inspection is to help reduce the cost of automobile physical damage insurance coverage (collision and comprehensive) by accurately documenting your vehicle, and greatly reducing the possibility of fraudulent claims.

Criminal History

Driver iQ conducts a federal, statewide (if available) and county level criminal/civil history check, based on the location of the listed residences for a specified period of time. Residences or names that are discovered through a credit check or social security number trace during a specified time frame can be checked at the carrier’s request. Checks can also be completed for applicant’s work or school addresses. In full adherence to state and federal law, each history includes, at a minimum, a seven-year search of:

• State/federal felony and misdemeanor records
• Reports of convictions and/or pending prosecutions
• Civil suits filed by or against the applicant
• State/federal tax liens and releases

Driving Records

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires employers to obtain and review a motor vehicle record from every state in which a commercial driver has held a license during the previous three years. In addition, at least once every 12 months, companies are required to obtain motor vehicle records from every state in which their drivers held licenses. Driver iQ can help you manage these requirements quickly and efficiently whether through our Onboarding Solution or integrated with your Application Tracking System. Our services include:

Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
Commercial Drivers License Information (CDLIS)
Pre-Employment Screening Program Report (PSP)
Motor Vehicle Record Monitoring through SuperVision

Eligible for Rehire Notification

Sometimes drivers leave a company under good circumstances and are eligible for rehire if they were to reapply. But carriers never know when the driver might be looking for work, and maybe the driver is too embarrassed to ask for his/her old job back.

Under Driver iQ’s Eligible for Rehire program, all a carrier needs do is indicate that the driver is eligible for rehire on the termination documents stored with Driver iQ. The carrier will be proactively notified that the eligible driver’s records are being requested by another carrier, which indicates he/she is looking for a new job. The original terminating carrier can then take the necessary steps to notify the driver that a job is available if they’d like to reapply.

This program is free to all carriers who store their termination records with Driver iQ.

PRE (Previous Record of Employment)

Driver iQ goes to extreme lengths to ensure the accuracy and security of the information stored.

Some of the features include:

• Accident History and Drug and Alcohol Test History for the past 3+ years
• Additional Information (AI) Notification: Receive notifications when a change has occurred for a record you have recently received (free of charge)
• PRE meets or exceeds all FMCSA and FCRA requirements
• PRE makes it easy to pull and aggregate reports in response to FMCSA/DOT audits
• Continuous credits for the driver records stored

Current Employee Retention Notifications

Many times carriers do not know when a good current employee is looking for another job. If they did, and they wanted to retain that employee, they would try to find out why they wanted to leave and try to solve the problem.

Driver iQ has the solution through our Current Employee Retention program. All a carrier has to do is store a list of your current employees with Driver iQ. You will be proactively notified when a record for that current employee is requested.

This program is free to all carriers who store their termination records with Driver iQ.

SingleCheck Verification

SingleCheck Verification saves you time and money by reducing calls from carriers and non-carriers for single verification requests. These verifications can be sourced from DOT and non-DOT requests, including credit requests. Simply direct them to your branded SingleCheck Verification link via our website or yours.

SingleCheck Verification takes care of the rest. Employment and driver school records are verified:
• Instantly
• Accurately
• Consistently
• In accordance with the FCRA and DOT FMCSA requirements
All of this is done without any involvement from carrier personnel.

Additionally, SingleCheck Verification automatically integrates with the Current Employee Retention program.

For information on how to use SingleCheck, see our User Guide. It includes links to our participating carrier and schools’ SingleCheck Verification websites.

Accreditation

In addition to being fully compliant with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Driver iQ/Cisive is fully accredited by the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA).

Only 2% of the nation’s background screening companies have achieved this vital recognition. Carriers should only seek out PBSA-accredited companies, because it provides independent validation that the company is adhering to guidelines in the following client/consumer areas: Data Security, Compliance, Organizational Performance, and Professionalism.

Driver iQ is proud to announce that its staff have all obtained their PBSA Basic Certification.

Earn More Credits

You Earn Credits Every Time Your Termination Records Are Accessed

We know your termination records are valuable. We also know that those records are accessed by other carriers multiple times, as a driver applies for jobs with multiple carriers. We believe that you should receive more value for sharing those records with us.

Not only will you receive a larger credit the first time an employment record is accessed, you will also receive an additional credit every time that record is resold. These credits can be used for any of the services Driver iQ offers.

And better yet, credits never have an expiration date!
